Development of Structural Installation (Wind Loads-Permitting) Designs for Solar Applications Technical support of the Solar Industry has always been an integral part of Flaenergy services. We have been involved in the testing and development of the requirements for the installation of Solar water heating and Photovoltaic systems on the roof of buildings for approximately 15 years. We have developed techniques to perform tests in the manufacturers facilities prior to undergoing the "Official" required Certification of Solar Collectors in Florida. We have developed test methods for the Florida Solar Energy Center and the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation and are assisting manufacturers have their Equipment Certified in Florida. Healey & Associates assists FSEC in the Training related to Structural Requirements in their commercial training courses. We routinely assist contractors in the preparation of the design documentation required for Permitting a solar installation.
Training has always been an integral part of Flaenergy services. Alternative and advanced energy systems require development of appropriate operating and maintenance (O&M) manuals, instructions, acceptance testing procedures, and training to ensure successful and continued operation and maintenance of systems. Our IAQ Training on the Safety & Security of Building Air Quality was used in training Government personnel at the annual Energy Conference following 9/11, State Health Departments, Safety professionalsand and numerous Facility personnel. Recently our training has been focused on the development, implementation, evaluation(economic), commissioning and the Operation & Maintenance of Solar Applications. Mr. Henry Healey, president of the corporation, has given presentations and conducted workshops nationally for federal facility managers (FEMP College), the United Nations, facility managers, and numerous professional & industrial organizations (ASHRAE, AEE, FSEC etc.) as well as the general public. Mr. Healey was involved in the development and training related to ASHRAE's Solar Design, Installation and O&M manuals for C&I solar systems, NREL's Solar Water Heating Manual and FSEC's Photovoltaic Design Manual and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
